HMRC is sending a leaflet, entitled New Construction Industry Scheme (New CIS) - An Introduction to the Changes, to all registered contractors during January 2006. The leaflet explains the fundamentals of the new CIS and identifies practical steps that contractors can take now to prepare for the changes that will take effect in April 2007.

The Government has announced that the implementation date for the new Construction Industry Scheme has been extended from April 2006 to April 2007, in order to give more time for the parties to prepare for the scheme's introduction. The existing scheme will continue until 5 April 2007.
