Data Provisioning Service - 'Notifications email' service - email alerts
|
The Data Provisioning Service (DPS) provides employers and agents with access to notices sent to them by HMRC. If they wish, employer and agents can indicate that they wish to received a separate email alert when HMRC sends them a message.
In a recent announcement, HMRC has acknowledged that some employers and agents are having difficultly finding their notices and reminders on the receipt of email alerts. Due to the way DPS currently works, the date on the notice or reminder can differ from the issue date of the email alert. For agents this means that notices and reminders are not always available to view using the 7 day window facility. HMRC is working to align the notices and email alert issue dates.
Until that is done, agents need to use the client search facility to check for notices that have not been actioned. These include:
- tax code notices
- student loan repayment start and stop notices (SL1 and SL2)
- tax-free payment notices.
Following customer feedback, HMRC is consulting with external business representatives from the Employer Consultation Forum to consider how the service can be improved. Suggested enhancements to the service are to provide:
- a facility to know that an item has been read
- information within the email alert to enable you to identify who and what the notification refers to
- a better search facility (for agents who haven't retrieved new notices within the 7 day view facility)
- a more user friendly print facility.
