Double Taxation Conventions - Agreement between the UK and Macedonia signed

A comprehensive Double Taxation Convention between the United Kingdom and Macedonia was signed in Skopje on 8 November 2006.
The Convention will enter into force once both countries have completed their legislative procedures. In the United Kingdom the provisions of the Convention will take effect from 1 January with respect to taxes withheld at source, 1 April for corporation tax purposes, and 6 April for income tax and capital gains tax purposes, following the date of entry into force. In Macedonia, the provisions will take effect, in respect of taxes withheld at source and taxes chargeable, from 1 January following the date of entry into force.
The Convention between the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and the United Kingdom will cease to be effective with respect to any Macedonian or United Kingdom tax from the date upon which this Agreement becomes effective.
