Payment of Class 1B NICs

As explained in the Newsletter of 7 May 2004 , the filing deadline for Class 1A NICs for the 2003/04 tax year continues to be 19 May, even if payment is made electronically. The same principle applies to the payment of Class 1B NICs on PAYE Settlement Agreements (PSAs). The payment deadline for PSAs in respect of the 2003/04 tax year is 19 October, even if payment is made electronically.

The new 22nd payment deadline for electronic payments will only apply to payments of Class 1B NICs for the 2004/05 tax year. All employers paying electronically, not just large employers, will be able to take advantage of the later deadline.
