National Minimum Wage - Agricultural workers in Northern Ireland

The Agricultural Wages Board for Northern Ireland has announced proposed changes to the minimum rates of wages for agricultural workers following a meeting on 17 January 2005. The Board proposes to increase existing minimum rates of pay for workers in all age groups by 4.3%. The minimum hourly rate at age 19 would increase from £;5.09 to £;5.31. No other changes to working conditions are proposed.

The Board will meet again on 18 February 2005 to consider any objections to the proposal. The new rates are due to come into operation on 4 April 2005.
