US State Labor Standards Links

The US State Labor Standards is sponsored by SafeGuard World
Federal labor laws are, in the main, set out in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which covers minimum wage and overtime pay, record-keeping and child labor rules the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), which provides for job-protected unpaid leave in certain circumstances the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), which sets minimum standards for pension plans in private industry, and the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Act, which defines safety and health requirements in employment. Most of the States supplement or exceed the federal labor standards in varying degrees by, for example, setting enforceable rules for unpaid wages and the payment of wages/unused vacation hours on termination, deductions from wages, purchasing uniforms and equipment, meal breaks, payment of tips, discrimination and retaliation, wage garnishment, day labor, and the regulation of employment agencies.
