A new rule 099.04 comes into effect from January 1, 2006, stating "The employer whose policy has been canceled or terminated shall, on or before the 30th day after receiving notice of cancellation or termination, obtain other coverage in accordance with the law. Failure on the part of the employer to file such evidence within 30 days shall be considered by the Arkansas Workers' Compensation Commission as prima facie evidence of violation of A.C.A. 11-9-401 and subject the employer to the penalties prescribed."

A number of other rules changes are also effective January 1, 2006.

The Arkansas Workers' Compensation Commission (AWCC) has released its annual revision of Advisory 2000-1, which announces the amounts to be paid to injured workers under the state's workers' compensation laws.

The revision advises parties in the workers' compensation system of the maximum and minimum rates to be paid to employees who suffer job-related injuries and illnesses from January 1, 2006, through December 31, 2006.
