View the previous news item for Idaho

Notices were sent out in December to Idaho's 46,000 employers informing them about the new unemployment insurance tax rates that go into effect in 2006. The 2006 increase is the second year of a multi-phased rate increase approved by the Idaho Legislature. The rate increases vary depending on an employer's experience rating.

The legislation - a product of two years of negotiation among business, labor and government leaders - means that over the next six years, employers will pay $72 million more in taxes, but that is still well below the estimated $344 million employers would have paid over the same time period had the freeze expired with no further action.
