US Payroll News: Minnesota - New minimum wage rates from August 2005

Effective August 1, 2005, new minimum wage rates will be introduced.

  • the "small-employers" rate will be $5.25 an hour
  • the "large-employers" rate will be $6.15 an hour
  • the "training-wage" rate will be $4.90 an hour.

The large-employer definition will change to "any enterprise whose annual gross volume of sales made or business done is not less than $625,000". The threshold is currently $500,000. The training-wage applies to new employees who are under the age of 20 during their first 90 consecutive days of employment.
