Minimum wage increase from January 1, 2006 - U.S. Virgin Islands

The Department of Labor has confirmed the increase to the private sector minimum wage, the law for which was passed by 26th Legislature on September 26, 2005. The timeline for the Bill shows that it was adopted by the Senate on September 23, vetoed by the Governor on 30 September and overridden on 14 November 2005.

The increase is from $5.15 to $5.65 per hour, effective January 1, 2006. The minimum wage for tipped employees in the hospitality industry has also increased, from $4.30 to $5.30 per hour.
