An operator of a delivery business called Fastracks based in Waterloo, Ont. was fined $3,000 on February 20, 2007 for a violation of the Employment Standards Act in connection with wages owed to a former employee.

Daniel Manseau owed a total of $1,298 to a former employee who filed a claim with the Ontario Ministry of Labour for unpaid wages. The ministry found the wages were owing and issued Daniel Manseau, operating as Fastracks, an order to pay for $1,298 for the unpaid wages, plus a 10-per-cent administrative fee. The order was issued on April 18, 2005. The employer failed to pay the order.

The fine was imposed by Justice of the Peace Robert Gay of the Ontario Court of Justice in Kitchener. In addition, the court imposed a 25-per-cent victim fine surcharge, as required by the Provincial Offences Act. The surcharge is credited to a special provincial government fund to assist victims of crime.
