Among the changes announced in the Budget on 7 December are

improvements to Maternity and Adoptive Benefit - the minimum rate increases by €17 per week to €182.60, the rate increases from 75% to 80% of reckonable weekly earnings (from January 2006), an extra four weeks Maternity Benefit in 2006 and again in 2007
an increase in the employee PRSI threshold from €287 to €300, an increase in the earnings ceiling from €44,180 to €46,600 per year, an increase in the 2% Health Contribution payment threshold from €400 a week to €440 a week and in the annual threshold from €20,800 to €22,880
payment of PAYE and PRSI may be paid quarterly instead of monthly
no increases in the tax rates of 20% and 42%, but other changes as follows:
