Subject: Absent employee rights
Poster: heather
Hi
I'm hoping that someone will be able to offer me a little bit of advice. I joined my current employer in may 2007 and a couple of weeks ago I had an accident at work when my chair broke and I damaged my back. I have since been unable to attend work due to the pain. I was wondering where I would stand if my employer refused to give me a phased return to work or just dismissed me because of this incident? I have little knowledge of this area and any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Subject: Agency Contracts
Poster: deb
Are there laws governing how long a person can remain in the same position when they are a contractor through a third party agency? How about if you are contracted directly through the company? I thought there was an 18 month rule in place; or something like that.

Subject: max number of sick days allowed
Poster: mikeagp
Morning,
Can anyone let me know if there is a max period that you can be on sick leave from a UK company? Full time employment. Been off sick now since April this year and probably will be until approx end of October this year. Currently receiving sick pay. I understand that 28 weeks is max number of week I can claim sick pay but just don't know if there is a time factor before my employer can sort of force me to resign or leave as apposed to continue being on sick leave.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Mike
