We asked Dennis Keeling - CEO of Basda (Business Application Software Developers Association) - what the biggest challenge would be for UK payroll professionals in 2008.
Please note that the subject of the interview is not the requirement for many employers to file forms P45 and P46 electronically - that is mandatory from April 2009. Rather, Dennis Keeling is describing his concerns over the changes made by HMRC to the specifications for the online filing of form P45 from April 2008. Developers must include two new fields on that form - gender and date of birth - or it will be rejected for being in the wrong format.
