Data Provisioning Service - New PAYE desktop viewer available from October

HMRC’s Data Provisioning Service (DPS) is the means by which HMRC sends PAYE notices and reminders to employers and agents online. Employers and agents can log in to the PAYE for Employers services on HMRC’s website and read and download tax code notices, student loan notices and other employer notices. Some developers have also built the facilities into their computerised payroll systems.

PAYE Services - HMRC upgrade to computer systems

Starting in June 2009, HMRC began to upgrade its computer systems to bring all PAYE records together into a single system, accessible from all of its tax offices. The fully upgraded systems began to be available to HMRC staff from 29 June and will be in full use from 20 July.

Employer CD-ROM - Filing returns using the 2010/11 version

Employers (i.e. PAYE schemes) with fewer than 50 employees will be required to file their P35 Employer Annual Return and P14 End of Year Summaries online for the 2009/10 tax year by 19 May 2010. Of those employers falling within this category, HMRC states that around 350,000 are not yet filing any returns or forms online. HMRC is to write to them all reminding them of the requirements.

PAYE Services - HMRC upgrade to computer systems

After a number of delays, HMRC has started its computer systems upgrade to bring all PAYE records together into a single system, accessible from all of its tax offices. Some services will be affected during June and into July while staff are trained and there will be some delays in responding to queries and correspondence.

Tax Guidance - New training modules for schools

HMRC has released three Tax Matters modules, to assist education professionals who teach Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE) and citizenship to pupils aged between 11 and 19. The consist of a variety of online interactive resource includes videos, quizzes and games, as well as key facts and figures, to help young people learn about tax and its role in society.
