On 23 October 2009, the Isle of Man concluded a comprehensive double taxation agreement with Malta.  Both governments having ratified the agreement, it will enter into force on 26 February 2010.

Double Taxation Agreement with Estonia enters into force

The Agreement ratified on 16 June 2009 entered into force on 21 December 2009.    It has effect for income tax purposes from 1 January 2010 in both countries.

The Department of Health and Social Security has confirmed that, between 2010 and 2020, the state pension age will increase for women from the current 60 years to 65 years, matching the process that will occur in the UK. The same stepped increases will apply, namely an increase of one month in the state pension age during each two months of the ten-year transition period. Continue reading


A new Tax Information Exchange Agreement (TIEA) between the Isle of Man and New Zealand was signed on 27 July 2009. The Agreement will enter into force as soon as both governments have completed their domestic legislative procedures needed to give it effect.

On 2 April 2009, amendments to the double taxation agreement with the United Kingdom were confirmed and, both countries having ratified the changes, they came into force on 6 April 2009. A tax information exchange agreement between both countries also entered into force on 2 April 2009.

Two agreements were signed by Ministers of the Isle of Man and France on 26 March 1009; a Tax Information Exchange Agreement and a Double Taxation Agreement in respect of international shipping. The Isle of Man now has tax co-operation agreements in place with 14 countries, over a quarter of the 51 TIEAs in existence globally.
