Jersey: Benefits in Kind - Employer contributions to personal pension plans

The Income Tax Office has announced that, with effect from the year of assessment 2009, any employer contribution into an individual’s personal pension plan or retirement annuity trust is exempt from charge as a Benefit in Kind (BIK). As a result, employers are no longer required to declare such sums on their annual BIK returns.

Jersey: Minimum Wage - Employment Forum recommends new minimum wage rate

On 29 October, the Employment Forum presented its minimum wage recommendation to the Social Security Minister.  If accepted, the minimum wage would rise to £6.08 per hour from 1 April 2009, an increase of 4.8 percent on the current rate.

Jersey - Employment Forum Recommendations

On 17 June 2008, the Employment Forum presented its latest recommendations on two employment topics to the Social Security Minister. The first relates to new powers for the Employment Tribunal when making awards to employees who have been unfairly dismissed.
