The finalists of the 2009 CIPD People Management Awards have been announced following a rigorous selection process. The award acknowledges outstanding practice in the management and development of people. With a record number of entries, this year includes two new categories, Excellence through technology and Total reward.

A winner and a runner up within each of the six categories will be chosen from the list of finalists at judging day on 24 September 2009. The announcement will officially be made at a black-tie awards dinner during the CIPD Annual Conference and Exhibition on 18 November 2009 in Manchester. The coveted overall 2009 CIPD People Management Award will be presented to the company whose achievement transcends the individual categories. Last year this was awarded to Kier Building Maintenance (KBM).

Jackie Orme, CIPD Chief Executive, who will be helping to judge the awards says:

“I’m hugely impressed by the response and range of initiatives across the sectors this year. The CIPD will continue to reward and encourage good people management and development and we are delighted that 2009 has seen the introduction of two relevant new categories as well as the highest level of entries in the history of the awards so far.
