This week’s current news items include the latest update on the 48-hour opt-out saga and another consultation document on pension personal accounts, the employment-based pension scheme planned for 2012.

The major part of this newsletter, however, is a detailed review of the key payroll-related changes announced in the 2009 Budget Report. There are a few items of immediate relevance but most of the important changes are planned for future tax years.
