Employer CD-ROM - Filing returns using the 2010/11 version

Hi! If you're new here, you might want to register for free email updates. Just use the form at the top of the sidebar. Thanks for visiting The Payroll Blog!

Employers (i.e. PAYE schemes) with fewer than 50 employees will be required to file their P35 Employer Annual Return and P14 End of Year Summaries online for the 2009/10 tax year by 19 May 2010. Of those employers falling within this category, HMRC states that around 350,000 are not yet filing any returns or forms online. HMRC is to write to them all reminding them of the requirements.

Small employers will be able to file their P35 and P14 returns online using the 2010/11 Employer CD-ROM if they

  • have registered to use HMRC online services,
  • have used the P11 calculator on the 2009 CD-ROM to calculate pay and tax for all of their employees,
  • were using the P11 calculator for nine employees or fewer at 5 April 2010, and
  • transfer 2009/10 P11 details onto the new or updated 2010 CD-ROM.

HMRC also intends to include on the 2010/11 CD-ROM the facility for some small employers to send their P45 and P46 forms online from April 2010.
