New Form P45 - New versions ready to order

HMRC has written to payroll system developers, reminding them that employers should have destroyed any copies of the new A4-size P45 with the imprint number 04/08 on the bottom right of the individual parts of the P45. The new versions may be ordered now from the Employer Orderline but they are unlikely to be despatched before week commencing 15 December. The new A4 P45(Manual) form was not affected by this issue and can be brought into use once stock of the old A5 stationery has been exhausted.
HMRC will also be publishing a further revised specification to make minor amendments to the spacing of the fields on the P45(Online) form for printing onto plain paper. The new specification is likely to be published in early December 2008, following requests from software developers to align the fields on the plain paper P45 consistently with other versions of the form.
