Re- Employers CD Rom 2007
Has anybody else noticed this ? The completing of the onscreen P46 seems to have an illogical section on it. There is a compulsory prompt to enter A,B,C,or D to indicate the employee's circumstances. Surely this is incorrect as it is the employees responsibility to fill this section in. The form should be able to be completed with this left blank, which can then be printed and sent to the employee. I think the set up is very good and will be useful to use but this problem really does spoil it.
Another point is I cannot understand why the database does not hold date of birth and job title. This has to be put in manually on the P46. I would have thought this could be populated direct from the database in the same way the other details are.

Brian,
I've not used this facility but so far all the other bits on the CD Rom seem ok. Actually it probably isnt a problem for HMRC as it forces the employer to make the decision, something they would prefer.
I would agree about the database but i expect they dont want this to be used as a substitute for your own personal database.
Its all good stuff but it will always have its limitations. By the way, have you upgraded to Adobe 8 yet? If you do watch out for access to the documentation in the 2006 and previous CD Roms. They are not compatible with Adobe 8 and you have to access the files via the back door.
I contacted Revenue & Customs and the person who I spoke to had not noticed this problem before and said they would pass it on to the relevant team. They did agree that it seemed strange that it was set up like that. I also submitted feedback on the Revenue's website. In my view it seems such a simple thing to put right. Surely all they have to do is take the compulsory prompt off that section, which means it is left blank and we then have a usable form. I do not hold out much hope that they will change it though.
Still on Adobe 5, if I ever upgrade above this it prints out in gobbledygook. IT are very puzzled !!

Brian,
If your problem with Adobe Reader is same as the one that used to baffle me, try loading the pdf, then select the Document tab and click "Use Local Fonts", and then do it again. You should find that then puts the text into English! _________________ Ian Congreave, PayPerShop owner
I tried that on Adobe 8. The fonts option was actually in the preferences tab, but it made no difference anyway it still printed in Greek when the box was unchecked. Oh well back to version 5.
