I need your help. It will be very kind if you can help me.

Assuming tax code : 543 L

I worked for 11monthes on minimum wages from 01-July-2007 to 31-June-2008, 8hrs a day. It means 40hrs per week.

I took 2weeks holiday which my employer approved but he have not paid my wages bcoz he said you are not entitled for holiday pay as you have not worked for 1year (12months). Am I entitled for holiday pay?

I am not a UK citizen. I am here on Working Holiday Maker Visa according to which I can work for one year for full time legally.

I need help. I am not that rich and even my employer is making excuses to pay my salary.

If you can help me please by calculating my salary for 11 months, 8hrs a day and on minimum wages during 01-July-2007 to 31-June-2008.

God will bless you.

Hope you will reply.

Welcome to the PayPerShop forum and thank you for posting your question.

I am not clear whether you are still employed - you say you worked for the employer up to 30 June 2008 - are you still with the same employer? And the period 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2008 is 12 months.

An employee is entitled to paid holidays immediately on joining a new employer. There is no period of service required. In the first year, your employer is entitled to limit the amount of holiday you take each month but, by the end of the year up to 30 June 2008, you were entitled to 4.6 weeks paid holiday. If you work 5 days a week, that is the equivalent of 23 days.

If you left that employment after a year, your employer should have paid you the 23 days, less any days holiday that he paid you during the year. If you have not received any paid holiday in that year, you are entitled to payment for those 23 days.

You can find more information about your entitlements at http://www.businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/detail?r.l1=1073858787&r.l3=1074039090&type=RESOURCES&itemId=1073792640&r.l2=1073876962&r.s=sc. The reference there to 4.8 weeks or 24 days holiday is the annual entitlement today - it was 4.6 weeks or 23 days in the year that you refer to.

I suggest that you contact your nearest Citizens Advice Bureau - you can look up the address and phone number at http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/. The advisers are very helpful and will help you to enforce your rights under the law.

Hello

Actually I worked for 11months only from 01July2007 to 31May2008
(sorry I made mistake).

I am not working now. I left all my work after 11months as I was only allow to work 12months so I kept 1month in my pocket.

Can you please calculate the tax & NI and my salary.

Thanks.

It would be a lot of work to try to calculate your payroll figures over the 11 months and I would need a lot more information from you. Instead, you should discuss any concerns you have over the salary payments you have received with the adviser at the Citizens Advice Bureau. Presumably you have kept your payslips and will be able to show them to the adviser.

That's a disgrace! All the more reason to view CAB as soon as possible.
