My name is Mike O'Grady and my company is Aquila Technology. I am based in wet and windy Galway, hence my nickname.
I think the PayPerShop forum is one of the best resources for those interested in the ins and outs of the UK payroll system. I know I will learn from the contributors and, hopefully, I may be able to contribute in time.

Welcome to our forum Mike, I'm glad you like what we have to offer. I was intrigued why a firm in Galway would be so interested in UK payroll but I see your company produces HRPay for Ireland and you are about to launch a UK payroll version, pending HMRC accreditation.
My wife says to me "some days I wake up grumpy, other days I let him sleep". Is that your problem too? _________________ Ian Congreave, PayPerShop owner

Thanks Ian,
I think I am at an age where grumpiness is a natural state. When I watch the "Grumpy Old Men" programmes on TV, I tend to identify with their gripes, poor service, over-charging, undisciplined kids, etc.
As for my motivation for joining the forum, you spotted that we have ambitions to have a UK version of HRPay and we are quite close to having the beta version ready.
Although the UK system is much more complex than the Irish system, there is merit in Irish developers keeping an eye on what is happening in the UK anyway as we inherited our system from you and our Revenue is apt to follow what happens in the UK. For example, the P46 was added to the Irish system in the last year and, because we were working on a UK version of HRPay, we were able to implement the P46 in the Irish version before any of our competitors. It is very probable that we will soon have a requirement to implement AEOs of some sort here and the experience of developing this functionality for the UK system will be invaluable.
As I said in my introductory post, I hope that I can eventually be a contributor to the forum but, for the moment, I will be in learner mode.
