UK Payroll Software - HTML Payslips

Postby Number Cruncher » 31 Mar 2008, 16:39

Hi,

We are looking for a UK payroll software (upper end/good functionality) with capability to generate HTML payslips - payslips which can be loaded as a file to a server for subsequent download on an individual level, not email payslips (which we also need as a standard offering).

Would appreciate assistance/recommendations based on experience.

Many thanks.

HTML paylips

Postby Ian Congreave » 02 Apr 2008, 07:13

Thank you for your question and welcome to the PayPerShop forum!

I have asked one of the developers that I know to give me some comments on the idea of HTML payslips as I have not come across them before.

My initial reaction is that they could cause the recipient a lot of problems. First, if my understanding is correct, in order to store the payslip, the employee would have to download all of the HTML coding in order to view it again in future - so there is a storage issue. Second, one of my telephone service providers sends me an HTML invoice every month and it displays differently depending on the browser that I use to view it. One browser displays it completely illegibly and is unable to print it. So, I would have thought the traditional pdf payslip would be a much better idea.

I hope we get some other views on this!

HTML Payslips

Postby Number Cruncher » 02 Apr 2008, 10:39

Thanks David. Appreciate your response.

We have used HTML payslips for many years in many payroll locations (Ireland, Singapore/Asia, Europe both west and emerging eastern locations).

There are no issues and it appears as a standard offering on payroll software. There are also no stylesheet issues. More importantly, managed properly there are no security issues either.

We are reviewing the approved software vendors on HMRC list to find a mid to upper tier software that will meet our needs.

If anybody can direct us, or indeed if any software vendor online at your excellent facility can 'shout, contact details at us we will be in immediate conntact.

Again, look forward to any assistance that may be out there!

HTML Payslips

I don't usually reply as a Supplier (rather than Advisor), but a possible answer to your enquiry is SfP World Service from Software for People.

SfP World Service is an 'upper end' payroll system, accredited by HMRC, with integrated and fully configurable HR capabilities that can be partly or fully switched off. It can generate HTML payslips that are usually made accessible to employees via self-service browser access (after secure login) to your central database - for viewing and/or printing (from a full history not just the most recent one). However the files could be supplied for loading to a different database if preferred.

As you say, payslips can also be emailed - and there are no stylesheet issues (as these are held at the server end and can therefore easily be created to replicate your payslip style/layout).

If you would like to discuss your underlying requirements in greater detail, please feel free to contact me via hugo@hrsystems.net
