BASDA demonstrates its strong commitment to the progression of the business software industry, with the appointment of a Director General at the helm of this highly influential organisation.
March 2008
BASDA, the Business Application Software Developers Association, has appointed Jairo Rojas to the new position of Director General, to manage the ongoing growth and focus of the membership organisation, enabling Dennis Keeling to step down from day-to-day matters and provide a more strategic steer in his new capacity as BASDA President.
Jairo joins BASDA after significant experience of working with both large IT corporations, and small start up organisations, and so is well placed to understand the needs of different sizes of BASDA members. He brings with him new ideas and energy for continuing to ensure that BASDA remains both a key influencer with legislative bodies and provide vital information and lobbying power to its members but also the importance of expanding into more markets and sectors where its expertise and experience can be of enormous benefit to current and prospective members.
Kevin Hart, Chairman of BASDA, comments:
"I am delighted that Jairo has joined BASDA as Director General to ensure we are delivering maximum value to our members. Along with overseeing highly effective engagement with external bodies, such as UK government and specific departments within it, BASDA must continue to focus its efforts for the benefit of its members and Jairo is dedicated to this."
He continues:
"Jairo sees the high level of influence and access that BASDA represents to its members, and to business software users themselves. He is committed to understanding more about what its members want, and what BASDA can do in terms of pushing the scope of this influence. We have introduced a new infrastructure including 7 Special Interest Groups to best serve our members' specific business needs and I see Jairo consolidating their success and widening these to an even broader market."
Jairo comments:
"BASDA is in a unique position that it has worked extremely hard to attain. It has the ears of very senior decision and policy makers, and the SIGs have allowed this influence to become even more focussed. I am looking to broaden BASDA's value proposition so that it is less project dependant and more adaptable in its different offerings, and therefore will appeal to small, medium and large organisations. There are many more challenges now touching individuals within our industry, including greater corporate social responsibilities, stronger environmental requirements and electronic means, and we will help our members navigate and respond to these."
For now, Jairo plans to understand from as many BASDA members as possible what the organisation can do to further benefit them. He is looking forward capitalising on what he sees as, "BASDA's enviable position to exert greater influence at national and international levels." Jairo also explains that his key aim at BASDA will be to "bring about the necessary changes to ensure that our members, our industry, and our governing bodies have a trade organisation which can orchestrate a balanced and harmonious progression."
With the new role of Director General in place, Dennis Keeling, former CEO of BASDA, is focussing his energies solely on the more strategic matters for BASDA where his experience and influence is greatest. Dennis now fills the role of BASDA President to fulfil these aims.
The BASDA general council, on behalf of all members (and, indeed the broader industry), would like to express their heart-felt thanks for Dennis for the invaluable directorship he has provided since the organisation's inception.
