CIPD conference will discuss how reward techniques can help retain, engage and motivate staff

November 2005

CIPD Annual Reward Conference, 8 February 2006, Olympia Conference Centre in London.

Successful business depends on an engaged workforce and research shows that reward can be used by employers to help engage, motivate and retain their staff. The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) will bring personnel professionals and reward specialists together to network and hear how reward can be used to benefit business, at the CIPD Annual Reward Conference, on 8 February 2006.

Charles Cotton, CIPD Reward and Recognition Adviser, says, "New research to be launched at the conference will show how reward helps organisations attract, retain and motivate staff as employers face a war for talent. This helps them create competitive advantage for their organisation. But it is not just a case of offering the rewards it is how they are communicated to staff, and how they are aligned with the overall objectives of the organisation."

The conference will bring together top speakers and high profile case studies to discuss pensions, trends in reward and what techniques work. Other speakers include:

  • Evan Davies, Economics Editor, BBC, on an analysis of the outlook for UK economy and labour market and the implications for employers.

  • Marc Bishop, Head of Reward, British Gas, on the role of line managers in reward.

  • Professor Jo Silvester, Department of Psychology, City University London, on the psychology of reward.

  • Steve Bee, Head of Pension Strategy, Royal London Group, in a discussion about the recommendations from the Pension Commission.

The CIPD is also holding two update days designed to provide the latest information about how employment law and tax regulations have an impact on reward and advice in terms of how reward can help improve employee engagement.
