ICS wins NHS payroll deal

St Mary's NHS Trust, London, has outsourced the processing of payrolls for its 3600 employees to ICS Computing Ltd for the next three years.

The deal forms part of a wider project that includes specialist consultancy services to assist in the implementation of ESR, the national payroll and HR system. The project will also assist with integration with the recently approved merger of St Mary's with Hammersmith Hospitals NHS Trust, in partnership with Imperial College to form Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. This will be the UK's first Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) and will employ in excess of 9000 people.

ICS has provided HR and Payroll software, eHR (employee self service), consultancy services and support to St Mary's for over 6 years, collaborating on major changes such as implementing Agenda for Change; NHS Jobs; a training and learning system and the development of an ESR compliant payroll data input system. The projects have realised savings in excess of £1 million per annum for the Trust.

Andrew Holden, Finance Director commented, "We have found ICS consultancy of major benefit in helping us to identify and implement efficiencies and obtain substantial cost savings. Outsourcing the payroll was an obvious progression and initial pay cycles have revealed no teething problems and a very high level of service. The project has been a great success."
