City of Durham Council selects SMART to optimise critical workforce management processes for 1300 staff
|
SMART today announced that the City Durham Council, has selected of SMART's solution to centralise and optimise workforce deployment and management. SMART's eHL solution will roll out to 1300 employees in 13 locations across all tiers of employees. The fully integrated time and attendance scheduling modules are designed to achieve three objectives; improved visibility and accountability of staff deployment and utilisation, accurate management of different working patterns and improved accuracy of payroll calculations.
The City of Durham Council needed a web-based solution to replace their existing flexi system and manual processes which were hindering efficient workforce management processes. In line with family friendly working, employees needed more flexibility in their working hours which encouraged the introduction of a variety of working patterns. As a result, the existing system was unable to cope with the multiple working patterns and provided no meaningful management information for the Council.
Ray Goodson, Systems Support Officer, City of Durham Council comments; "A compelling reason for us selecting SMART is it's impressive track record of managing challenging shift patterns and specific user requirements. After a thorough evaluation of other vendors we selected SMART particularly due to their ability to address immediate workforce concerns yet providing the flexibility to move forward; this is a critical step towards achieving our goal of more cost effective workforce management."
Access control will provide improved security and allow the Council to have real time access to employee location and accountability in the event of an emergency. The ability of accessing a roll call of where employees are will ensure greater compliance with health and safety regulations. Having all this information within one solution, the Council can benefit from an organisation-wide view of their entire workforce and make more informed and strategic decisions as a result. Alongside this, administration time will be significantly reduced with the elimination of the manual processes associated with timesheets, flexi time reconciliations and leave management.
SMART's solution will help to support the Government's initiatives for flexible working and ensure compliance with the Working Time Directive.
Eric Smart, CEO, SMART comments; "SMART's workforce management solutions help public sector organisations optimise workforce processes, control costs and accurately measure workforce performance. We are delighted to provide our solutions to the City of Durham Council as we further extend our presence within the local government market. For SMART, it exemplifies our commitment in helping organisations take proactive steps in managing their workforce and increasing efficiencies through our leading workforce management solutions."
The SMART solution will allow the City of Durham Council improve it's workforce management processes whilst achieving significant business benefits. These benefits include saving time and money, streamlining operations and increasing productivity resulting in a more proactive and cost efficient organisation.
