GE SeaCo Buys in HR Software from Snowdrop
November 2007
LONDON - GE SeaCo Services Limited, the worldwide equipment leasing supplier, has bought HR software from Snowdrop to consolidate its employee data and ensure international legislative compliance.
GE SeaCo employs 220 employees over 20 countries, from London, Italy, Sydney and New York, through to Moscow, China, Korea and Taiwan. It employs 65 people at its head office in London, where all central functions are run from.
Initially GE SeaCo will implement Snowdrop's Evergreen (personnel records management) and U-Access (employee and line manager self-service) modules, to be accessed by the five members of its HR team, across the world. Snowdrop's SDS(a)(Snowdrop Directory Services) tool will also be implemented at the end of the year to assist the company with SOX compliance.
Snowdrop's Orchard Payroll module will be rolled out at the beginning of 2008, with Snowdrop Workflow, an e-mail information delivery tool, in place by May 2008. Workflow will automatically generate reminders for line managers and schedule work for HR at all its offices.
Currently GE SeaCo uses paper records to manage employee information at each of its offices across the world. By using Snowdrop, HR hopes to move to a paperless function that will allow immediate access to all HR records, regardless of location. 30,000 documents have already been scanned and placed in employee files, ready for uploading to the Snowdrop system. This will create immeasurable time savings on 'Go Live'. The HR team will also use Evergreen's Organisational Charting and Salary Modelling tools for better workforce planning and worldwide salary reviews.
Through such high visibility of information, Russell Piper, HR Director for GE SeaCo, anticipates being able to equalise benefits, whilst no longer having to deal with time delays in procuring employee information. Russell says: "With Snowdrop there will be considerably less concentration on administration and a greater focus on training and development, enabling us to deal with the challenges of tomorrow."
Russell has previously worked with Snowdrop at Crane Telecommunications Group Ltd, which similarly to GE SeaCo, operates across a multi-site environment.
(a) The SDS tool will provide connectivity between the HR software and GE SeaCo's Microsoft Active Directory. For example, once new starter information has been recorded in the HR solution, automatic network access and identity will be created.
