TeamSpirit payroll software delivers first class results for The Dorchester

TeamSpirit has completed the implementation of its HR and payroll software at one of the world's most prestigious luxury hotels - The Dorchester in London's Park Lane.

TeamSpirit won the contract to supply its HR and payroll software to replace the existing in-house system from a previous supplier. The Dorchester is a 5 star rated hotel with 196 bedrooms and 49 suites in addition to extensive conferencing facilities including the renowned 10,000 square foot ballroom.

The hotel prides itself on personal service and attention for all its guests and boasts an employee to bedroom ratio of three to one. The hotel is a significant employer and TeamSpirit software will handle the payroll for 535 permanent staff and an additional 125 casual staff.

The Dorchester started the search for a new HR and payroll software provider in autumn last year as its incumbent HR and payroll software provider announced it was withdrawing support for its product. Key objectives for the new system included ease-of-use, the ability to flow in payroll data in a variety of formats and easy customisation. An external evaluation consultant commissioned by the hotel evaluated ten different software suppliers before selecting TeamSpirit. System implementation began in May, with the first live payroll run completed within timescale in September 2006.

Two areas where TeamSpirit software is already achieving results is with staff who are owed time off in lieu and entering new employee data. Managers record time off in lieu data on spreadsheets which used to be manually transferred into the previous HR and payroll system. Using TeamSpirit, the data can now be directly imported into the HR and payroll system which then automates the calculation. On recruitment, after new employees complete an on-line application form, this data is now captured and streamed straight into TeamSpirit, improving speed and efficiency.
