Supplemental Staffing Finds 32 Percent More Tax Credits
Situation: Supplemental Staffing, a Toledo, OH based staffing firm, specializes in temporary and direct hire placement. Founded in 1978, Supplemental has prospered in a highly competitive market. While Supplemental has been successful, it's always looking for more power to succeed - including evaluating its business software on a regular basis.
Supplemental Staffing's legacy software wasn't meeting current requirements and support was inconsistent, according to Susie Nash, Vice President of Finance for Supplemental Staffing.
Solution: For six months, Supplemental evaluated companies, narrowing the short list to 10. Additional research reduced the list to three vendors who then conducted demonstrations. In early 2005, Supplemental selected VCG's StaffSuiteŽ. Supplemental's team was impressed with the front and back office integration which provides significant time savings and insures timely, accurate payroll processing.
Results: Additionally, their evaluation team noticed similarities in functionality and usability between StaffSuite and Goldmine, the sales database they were using. Switching to StaffSuite would improve overall sales effectiveness through sales call scheduling and tracking, recording pricing quotes and proposals as well as statistical tracking of quality control.
"The searching and reporting functionality within StaffSuite was a key reason for our selection," said Peggy Richards, President of Supplemental Staffing.
StaffSuite has delivered another benefit - more revenue through a 32 percent increase in tax credits for candidates who meet specific government reporting requirements.
Each year, billions of dollars in federal and state tax credits and incentives are available to qualified employers like Supplemental. However, the application process is complex and time consuming. StaffSuite makes it easy for Supplemental to document and apply for tax credits that go right to their bottom-line. The tax credit alone pays for StaffSuite in less than four years, Richards said.
"We weren't able to do this with our legacy software and many cases fell through the cracks," said Richards.
Supplemental employees embraced StaffSuite immediately because the software is easy-to-use, Richards said, and have become much more productive.
"Our staff took to StaffSuite very well. They love the document management system where they can attach resumes and documents to candidate's records -it makes the whole recruiting and fulfillment process easier and faster," said Richards, "StaffSuite gives our recruiters peace of mind. They know the software can record the information they need to provide a complete and effective response."
VCG is the only staffing software vendor whose support has been independently rated as "excellent" by its customers.
Supplemental also gives VCG's support high marks. "We are very satisfied," Nash said. "Our typical response time is very quick." Richards adds that she likes the convenience of submitting support cases via the Internet because it enables her to be more specific.
"StaffSuite is an integral part of our business," Richards said. "It's the equivalent of a highly-valued senior employee. Without StaffSuite, we would need more time or more staff to do our job," said Richards.
When asked about goals for the future, both Richards and Nash say, "We want to increase sales by 15 percent over last year -- and we believe that StaffSuite capabilities are key to reaching that goal."
